Today is the birthday of actress Samantha who has emerged as a top heroine in Tamil as well as Telugu film industries from the ranks of a girl born and brought up in Chennai as a simple girl next door.
Samantha graduated from Stella Maris college, Chennai. Even after becoming a top heroine, she has never had any qualms in revealing that she was not considered beautiful during her college days. That shows what level of hard work, dedication and perseverance has gone into her elevation as the most sought after heroine and the heroine with most number of admirers in both Tamil and Telugu.
Even after entering film industry,Samantha was not always greeted with success.
She made her acting debut playing the lead heroine in director Gautham Menon's 'Ye Maya Chesave', the Telugu version of 'Vinnaithandi Varuvaya', The film was a blockbuster in both the languages and Samantha become an instant favorite of Telugu audience.
She has had a mixed bag of films in Tamil but still continues to remain at the top and a most sought after heroine. This is because she has earned everone's admiration with her charm,cuteness, glamour and ofcourse performance skills. Even in the commercially unsuccessful films 'Neethane En Ponvasantham', '10 Endrathukulla' and 'Thangamagan', her performance has been appreciated by fans as well as critics.
The year 2016 has started with a bang for her with 'Theri' which released on April 14 and continues to break box office records. Samantha' performance in this Atlee directed Vijay starrer is one of the highlights and has found a mention in every review written for the film. Samantha has also successfully dubbed on her own in this film with sheer aplomb.
Her next big release will be '24' her second film with Suriya which is marching ahead to hit the screens on May 6 amid huge expectations. The chemistry between Suriya and Sammu is sparkling in the trailer and the audience can sure expect a memorable treat from this lead pair in the film.
In Telugu, Samantha continues her success streak as she is currently acting in 'Brammotsavam' with Mahesh Babu and 'Janatha Garage' with NTR Jr. She is also part of National award winning director Vetrimaran's ambitious project 'Vada Chennai'.
2016 and 2017 are going to be extremely crucial and promising for Samantha and we can expect to her to grab more biggies and powerful roles in the coming years.
