Mother's Day, celebrated to honour motherhood, is celebrated on the second Sunday of May in many parts of the world and this year it falls on May 8.
The celebration of Mother's Day is said to have begun in the United States during the early 20th century after Anna Jarvis, who is now known as the founder of the Mother's Day holiday in the U.S., campaigned for a special day for mothers considering their sacrifices for the family. The first official Mother's Day is believed to have celebrated it at St. Andrew's Methodist Church in Grafton, West Virginia.
