This Tamil New Year, the audience has a big treat. Vijay's film Theri is set to release worldwide and there is already a lot of hype around the film. So here are five reasons why you should not miss the film.
The one and only Ilayathalapathy Vijay
Who doesn’t want to see a movie starring this top Kollywood star? In recent years, Vijay’s films have appealed to all sections of the audience rather than just the masses. The transformation started with Nanban, director Shankar’s remake of the Bollywood superhit 3 Idiots. Since then his two movies with AR Murugadoss have taken him to another level. InTheri, people will see Vijay as a cop and romancing two pretty heroines as well. And he also appears in three roles! The Kollywood star is set to dazzle the audience once again – three times in fact - on screen this Tamil New Year.
Director Atlee’s first with one of Kollywood’s top stars
There are many directors who are eager to work with Vijay, but this young director got an opportunity in his second film itself. Director Atlee, who made his debut in 2013 with Raja Rani, has worked as an assistant director with ace director Shankar on many films. His talent was tapped by AR Murugadoss and now he is here with Theri. There are high expectations from the young director. Since he is young, people feel he understands the pulse of the youth and Vijay fans in particular
The film’s production value
This movie is produced by one of the Tamil films industry’s leading producers Kalaipuli S Thanu. Having made the superhit Thuppaki with Ilayathalapathy Vijay in 2012, it was natural that he is working with the star once again. In fact, Thuppaki was a Rs 100 crore film and was the highest grossing film at the box office in 2012. From the look of the trailer of Theri, it looks like this movie will also break some box office records. There has been no expense spared for this film and it shows on screen as well as in the choice of the cast and crew.
G V Prakash’s 50th film as music director
This music director may have turned actor, but scoring for films is still his first love. GV Prakash signed Vijay’s Theri as his 50th film and the music has been outstanding, say many. GV, as he is known, has worked with Vijay before and Atlee as well in Raja Rani. GV is able to pull off serious films as well as mass commercial ones and this is his USP. He has been having hits not just as music director, but as an actor as well. And this movie is another feather in his cap. The songs when seen on screen will definitely be mind-blowing.
Gorgeous Samantha vs pretty Amy Jackson
In Theri, we will see these two ladies together once again afterThangamagan. Samantha is one of the top actresses in south India and it is not surprising she has films with all the top stars. This movie is her second film with Vijay while it’s Amy Jackson’s first. Samantha is known for her natural, underplayed acting skills while Amy tends to appear loud and bubbly. Their roles are touted to be very interesting and the audience can’t wait to see what’s in store for them.
